Vision for Long-term Security

  • Advocate for policies and oversight that improves the pension system’s long-term funded status while preserving the integrity of the current pension reform framework.

    Support disciplined investment oversight, sound actuarial assumptions, and responsible financial management to strengthen the plan over time.

  • Explore changes to the retirement options for participants that takes the progress made during the pension reform into consideration.  This includes, but is not limited to, reviewing the retirement eligibility provisions and the creation of a deferred retirement options for Plan D members.

  • Increase employee understanding of the pension system by way of the employee onboarding process, educational workshops, webinars, and digital resources.

    Advocate for initiatives that help employees understand how their pension is a significant component of their total compensation and long-term financial security.

    Promote transparency by providing employees with regular, easy to understand updates on the pension system’s financial health, funded status, and long-term outlook.

  • Bring a finance-driven, data-informed approach to every decision affecting the pension system.

    Uphold the fiduciary duty of the Pension Board by making decisions that are in the best interests of all plan participants and beneficiaries.

    Promote transparency, accountability, and open communication between the Pension Board and employees.

    Advocate for enhancements to technology and communication tools.

    Last day to cast your ballots.

  • August 27th

    Winners announced at the HMEPS August Board Meeting.
